Spring/Summer 2023
AGR Spring/Summer 2023: Dripping in Colour
AGR’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection, aptly titled ‘Dripping in Colour’, is a true celebration of the brand’s journey: from handmade knits for Notting Hill Carnival, to creating an exclusive capsule for Nike Town, to now debuting at London Fashion Week. For this collection, creative director and founder, Alicia Robinson, seamlessly blends her signature designs, with new daring techniques and playful accessories. AGR continues to find the balance between fine-tuning their existing techniques and trialling out new processes. This season includes more recycled denim and explores metallic foiling on crochet, with Robinson elevating her tye-dying and knitted pointelle lycra techniques. The collection’s staple pieces transition seamlessly from daytime beachwear to all night dancing. Prints are inspired by Katharina Grosse’s fabric installations, with additional references to 90s sandblasted jeans, glistening swimwear and Sonia Rykiel’s iconic stripes. The collection’s colour theory was chosen with a clear intent to stimulate positive emotions and encourage mental wellbeing. ‘Dripping in Colour’ is brought to life with new accessories. AGR partnered with London based jewellers, Hatton Labs, to create a line of statement fluorescent pieces including resin-dipped earrings, a nod to Alicia’s signature hoops, and blinged out, gemstone rings. Other accessories include multi-coloured visors, flashy leather belts and handmade, Italian handbags. Showcasing the collection at London’s most iconic nightclub, Fabric, is a full circle moment for designer Alicia Robinson, who spent her formative years working late nights, as the door girl at Visions Nightclub. To continue paying homage to London’s nightlife scene, AGR called on DJ and friend, Jyoty Singh, for the shows’ music curation. Jyoty’s mix represents the collection’s tropical feel, with sounds from around the world, including ballet funk, dembow and UK funky. As AGR hits this new milestone, the core values of the brand, to invoke joy through colour, promote body positivity and create sustainably, ring as true as ever.
